I’m so excited to share our basement makeover reveal with you today!
The last element for this project was to add art and a few more accessories. I decided to hang a gallery wall above the couch to add a little more personality to the space. The gallery wall includes pieces made by the kids, photography prints and some words of wisdom! The wonderful thing about gallery walls is that they enable you to create a customized look. They also allow you to include pops of colour and you can easily swap out the images to freshen up the space as needed.
A large canvas print placed next to the television fills in the void there and some smaller art added to the top of the sideboard rounded up the pieces that we needed. I may end up adding a few more frames to the gallery wall, they are so much fun to design!
If you’ve been following along, you know that the inspiration for the colour palette came from a tree in our backyard. I am still over the moon with the pillows from Tonic Living. The faux down inserts are wonderful and it’s great that there aren’t any feathers all over the place (never fun). The pillows bounce back to a beautiful shape with a little fluffing and they add the perfect pop of colour to the room. So happy with them!
The sectional provides us with ample space for the entire family to sit comfortably and since it’s also a sofabed, we now have extra space for guests who are visiting from out of town.
Our goal for this project was to create a space that the family could enjoy as a whole, to create designated sections for various activities and of course, longevity. We want this space to work for years to come, to grow with our family.
With that, here is where we started:
The basement “before” certainly worked, but there wasn’t much personality and there wasn’t any real defined space other than the tv area. Here is what we have, from furniture delivery day to today:
This was a really fun project to work on with the family. We had a wonderful time shopping for pieces at the Leon’s Trenton location. The staff was helpful and the selection was amazing. I suggest when it comes time to redecorate your space that you take the time to think about how the space will be used. This will ensure that you will select pieces that you will be thrilled with for years to come!
