Towards the end of my pregnancy, I started to wash all of Jack’s newborn clothing so I’d be ready for his arrival. I knew how delicate a baby’s skin could be and that, more than likely, my laundry routine would have to change. So, I switched to a scent free, all natural laundry detergent. The problem was that within a short amount of time I realized I missed smelling those typical laundry aromas. One of the things I used to use were scent boosters, so I set to find a replacement. This simple DIY laundry scent booster was the perfect answer – giving our clothes, towels and sheets a lovely soft scent.
– 2 cups of Epsom salts
– About 30 drops of essential oil.
Use whatever scent you love but I’m drawn to Sweet Orange, Peppermint and Lavender. Other options of essential oils that would work well: lemon, tea tree, eucalyptus and grapefruit! Using one alone is great but try mixing them together to create your own custom combo! You can also add more than 30 drops if you prefer a stronger scent.
1: Place the Epsom salts and essential oil in a mixing bowl and combine well.
2: Keep in an airtight container like a mason jar
3: Before adding clothes, add about ¼ cup to your washer, then wash away!
